Building for the future
We live and work in a tropical paradise and value the environments that we build in.
Jaytex construction is committed to conserving the environment for future generations and our Environmental Policy sets out our commitment to reducing environmental harm. Regular staff and contractor training is conducted to ensure we all understand our responsibilities and statutory obligations.
Unique Environment Management Plans that meet the recognised standards of ISO 14001:2016 are created for every Jaytex construction project. The tailored plan ensures everything from soil erosion, waste, noise, dust, weed, and water management is considered and risk is minimised.
We lead by example and encourage all our subcontractors to respect the environment, support these initiatives and reduce their environmental footprint
We have implemented several initiatives on site to reduce our impact on the environment. These include:
|HB Concrete – Recycling
Jaytex utilise HB Concrete for concrete supply as they have made a capital investment in the installation of a concrete recycling plant which enables them to reclaim slurry water and aggregates from waste concrete. The system segregates sand, gravel and greywater from return concrete.
Jaytex disposes of left over paint and paint packaging at Cleanaway via the Paintback initiative.
FluoroCycle is a scheme that aims to increase the recycling of lamps that contain mercury and reduce the amount of mercury entering the environment.
Upon mobilisation at each job site a cardboard recycling bin is placed onsite to maximise recycling and minimise waster on each project.
Our commitment to reducing environmental harm extends to our office initiatives.
Jaytex recycles all office paper for recycling whilst supporting local community social enterprise venture Helping People Achieve.
|Recycling and donating old ICT equipment
In March 2019 we recycled old ICT equipment (telephones), paper and cardboard boxes to the local childcare centre for educational play. This initiative is a win-win providing for educational activities and keeping goods out of landfill.
Jaytex now only drinks Pod&Parcel Coffee Pods as the pods and packaging are biodegradable and compostable.
|Paperless Banking with Westpac
Jaytex has made the switch and gone paperless with all banking activities with Westpac’s e-statements.
To further alleviate the requirement for unnecessary printing we have now incorporated Docusign into our work practices to initiate contracts.
|Cartridges 4 Planet Ark
‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ is an innovative recycling program that provides Australians with a free, easy and environmentally accredited way to recycle their used printer cartridges.
