Jaytex set to begin work on Bundilla Beach transformation
Construction is set to commence soon on Stage One of the Bundilla Beach transformation masterplan.
Jaytex Construction is proud to announce that it has been awarded the contract for these transformative works, aligning with the City of Darwin’s vision and the community’s aspirations for a revitalised public space.
The project will see the current car park along Atkins Drive transformed into a vibrant green space. In addition, more public lighting and CCTV will be installed, and new recreational facilities, including additional toilets, barbecue tables, and shelters, will enhance the area’s usability.
Responding to community feedback, a new dog park will also be established as part of the Stage One works.
“We’re incredibly proud to work alongside the City of Darwin and the local community to bring this project to life,” Managing Director Matthew Moss said.
“At Jaytex, we believe in creating spaces that serve the community’s needs while respecting the natural environment.
“Our experience with large-scale recreational projects and our continuous commitment to quality, puts Jaytex in a prime position to deliver this project.”
City of Darwin Executive Manager Infrastructure Nik Kleine remarked on the importance of this first stage: “The Bundilla Beach master plan was developed following extensive community and stakeholder engagement.
“These initial works are the first step in transforming Bundilla Beach into a cool, green, natural space that supports leisure and recreation activities."
The project, supported by a $500,000 investment from the City of Darwin and a $3 million commitment from the Northern Territory Government, marks a significant milestone in bringing the community’s long-term vision for Bundilla Beach to fruition.
During construction, access to the foreshore area will be restricted for safety purposes. However, pedestrians will still be able to use pathways around the lagoon area, and beach access will be maintained via the boat ramp at the Ski Club. Vehicles will not be allowed on Atkins Drive between Conacher Street and the Darwin Sailing Club while works are underway.
“At Jaytex, safety is of the utmost importance, so we appreciate the understanding and support from the community to not access these restricted areas while construction is underway,” Mr Moss said.
“We look forward to working with the City of Darwin and the community to create a public space that will be enjoyed for generations to come.”
Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
