The Northern Territory’s agricultural landscape was significantly enhanced with the completion of the $16 million Berrimah Farm Science Services Laboratory.

This state-of the-art facility is the cornerstone of the NT Government’s ambitious Berrimah Farm Science Precinct Redevelopment project, a $50 million investment designed to secure the future of the region’s $1.3 billion agribusiness industry.

The Combined Science Services Building connects the existing Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory and Berrimah Veterinary Laboratory to bring the Berrimah Farm staff together into one integrated precinct.

The project included integration of a medical gas system, solar hot water, complex HVAC system with hospital-grade HEPA filters and pressurisation of rooms and areas to support biosecurity management, Section J energy compliance, and new laboratory equipment.

The fully-integrated Building Management System and achievement of Federal Government Biosecurity Protection and Physical Containment Level 1 and 2 certifications, further underscored the technical complexities navigated throughout the project.

The 2,600 square metres facility saw more than 230 workers on site during the construction phase to ensure the project was delivered on time and on budget.
