The Northern Territory Government launched its $8 million diagnostics laboratory in Darwin. The laboratory is a part of a $44 million upgrade of the Berrimah Farm Science Precinct, funded jointly by Territory and Federal governments. The Laboratory will deliver biosecurity containment level 3 capacity and will be the only one of its kind in Northern Australia.
The 850m2 laboratory will support market access for Territory agriculture products, increase Australia’s biosecurity diagnostic capacity, help attract more world-class scientists to the Territory and enable the Northern Territory to bid for bigger research projects.
Designed for purpose by Mode Design and Constructed by Jaytex, these stunning new facilities, will enable scientists to carry out more advanced research to improve production outcomes for important Territory industries, while also enhancing the ability to better protect crops from exotic pests and diseases. The molecular lab, is a game changer.
It was a thrill and a privilege to deliver this critically important project for the NT Government. Jaytex collaborated on many areas of this highly complex building to ensure practicality, process and functionality for the end users and all stakeholders.
The molecular lab was constructed during the height of the COVID19 pandemic and considering the supply chain issues accounted, all involved should be proud of this achievement.
