Project Completed: Berrimah Farm Science Services Laboratory officially open
Jaytex Construction is proud to announce the successful completion of the $16 million Berrimah Farm Science Services Laboratory, marking a significant milestone in the Northern Territory's agricultural science landscape.
The state-of-the-art facility was officially opened on Thursday, October 10, and stands as a testament to Jaytex’s expertise in delivering complex, high-quality projects.
As a cornerstone of the NT Government’s $50 million Berrimah Farm Science Precinct Redevelopment, this 2,600-square-metre facility integrates the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory and the Berrimah Veterinary Laboratory into a single, advanced science precinct.
The facility will be key in safeguarding the Northern Territory's $1.3 billion agribusiness industry, providing crucial diagnostic services for plant and animal diseases, and identifying new pests.
The new Combined Science Services Building sets a new standard in agricultural science facilities, equipped with cutting-edge laboratory technology.
Jaytex's role was critical in delivering the facility’s complex features, including medical gas systems, solar hot water, and a high-tech HVAC system with hospital-grade HEPA filters for enhanced biosecurity.
The building's compliance with stringent Federal Government Biosecurity Protection and Physical Containment Level 1 and 2 certifications further demonstrates the technical precision achieved throughout the project
Project Manager Jess Gibson reflected on the intricacies of the build, noting that the project’s unique challenges required meticulous attention to detail, particularly in ensuring the laboratory's sterility and precision.
"It’s been an exciting and rewarding experience to see this facility come together," Jess said.
"Jaytex’s approach to tailored solutions has allowed us to meet the long list of technical requirements and deliver a modern, purpose-built laboratory that not only meets but exceeds expectations."
Jaytex’s core value of Build Together was at the forefront of this project, fostering collaboration with local suppliers to contribute to the growth of the Northern Territory’s construction industry. More than 230 workers were involved during the construction phase, ensuring the project was delivered on time and within budget.
The successful completion of the Berrimah Farm Science Services Laboratory not only reinforces Jaytex's reputation for delivering complex, high-quality projects but also plays a pivotal role in securing the future of the Territory’s agriculture industry.
